Elijah...I tried your suggestion of holding down the power-on button for 10 seconds but I still can't get to the BIOS: tried F2 and F12. Nothing new with F2! With F12 I was able to get a little further ONCE: Got this message: "Keyboard data line failure. To resolve this issue try to reseat the external keyboard". All other times (with or without 8GB RAM I couldn't get past the bootup point). 1) I don't have an external keyboard attached and 2) I do have a recently purchased 1440 keyboard that I purchased (uniquely as a precaution) when I also purchased a new 1440 battery which is in use in the 1440.
Bottomline: I still can't get into the diagnostics at all.
I removed the 2-4GB DIMMs and re-inserted the 2-2GB DIMMs. No difference.
If I need to replace the keyboard I'll need a little bit of help on the directions to open up the 1440.
Since changing the RAM modules of my laptop it doesn't boot, it makes 4 beeps, then stop and again makes 4 beeps. I've tried everything you've indicated here but still can solve it.
Any help? I assure myself to connect correctly both modules, but still can't make it boot.
