Hi Paul,

If the webcam is not working, I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the webcam drivers.

To uninstall the Dell webcam central software, perform the following steps:

  1. Hit Windows key and type Control Panel.
  2. Using the drop-down menu next to View by: in the upper-right corner, select Large Icons.
  3. Click Programs and Features.
  4. Click Dell Webcam Central.
  5. Click Uninstall.
  6. Confirm the uninstall process by clicking OK.
  7. Once uninstalled restart the computer.

I have provided a link below to reinstall the webcam drivers.

ftp.us.dell.com/.../Dell_SX2210-Monitor_Webcam%20SW%20RC1.1_%20R230103.exe

Let me know the status.

For the other applications, check the status in safe mode.

  • Hold the Shift button and mash the F8 key, this will sometimes boot you into the new advanced “recovery mode”.
  • Click on the Troubleshoot option
  • Select Advanced Options
  • Now choose the Windows Startup Settings option, by the looks of things we were never meant to find Safe Mode.
  • Finally hit the Restart button.

When your PC reboots you will be able to boot into Safe Mode from the familiar looking Advanced Boot Options screen.

Awaiting your response!

Thanks Rajesh.  I tried that already.  I don't think I had a hardware issue. It was the camera app that just wopuldn't load.  After discussion with Dell tech online, we ended up having to reset the system and that cleared it.

Thanks for the response.

Hi yashwanth vissu,

Webcam drivers are not needed for Windows 8 as the operating system will use the native drivers. You could use the webcam app within the operating system itself or click on the below link to download the webcam application.

pranavshirkande,

Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system? If yes, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Windows 7/8 is supposed to provide the webcam drivers for most Dell computers. If you system needs webcam drivers, go to Drivers and Downloads enter your service tag, then select your operating system. If your system needs webcam drivers, they'll be listed under Input.

(Windows 8)How to make the webcam work with help from this youtube. You have to open the Camera app first, and then click Settings on the charm bar to see where you can give the app permission to use the webcam.

Try reading...

Troubleshooting the Dell Webcam and Dell Webcam Central Software

You can try this file, also known as Dell Webcam Central.

Make a system restore point.

Start, control panel, device manager, Go to the USB Controller section and click the + sign. Go to each USB Root Hub. right click on it, left click uninstall.

Restart your computer. When you login, the new hardware wizard will reinstall everything. Please be patient, it could take up to 2 minutes.

Try the webcam and see if it works.

If no, then the webcam became detached from the motherboard, usually near the webcam
