@ishantjain

I just uploaded a video that shows you how to use Yumi and the easypeasy.iso file.It's not perfect but it should give you an idea how it works - watch it now or download it as I will delete the video within the next 2 days.

Note: with EasyPeasy you can connect to the Internet via cable only not via WLan (it is possible but driver need to be installed which is a bit more complicated).We just want to make sure that the network port (LAN) is ok.

=====================================

But please follow Dell Rockstar -Ricks instructions.Your WLan problem might be just software related...

=====================================

You will find on YouTube a lot of videos about EasyPeasy - check it out even though for the "network test" it's not really necessary.

Note: You need a 2GByte USBstick or greater and it must be formatted.If you have private files on it save them !

Watch the video in HD otherwise it's too grainy

Hi Rick,

Thanks a lot, it works and Now, I am connected to the Wireless however I downloaded the driver and saved it to desktop but I didn't installed it manually. The wireless is connected automatically after the RESTART step, itself. Can you please explain ?

Also,

What about the LAN port, How can I connect to the same ?

What about the new system restore point, and its significance ? Please explain.

ishantjain,

Wondedring if there was an update that was waiting to install.

Can you run Network Interface and post that information back here.

Can you also run an ipconfig /all log. It may be a simple setting.

ishantjain,

WEP security is not very secure and can have connection problems with some adapters. Also channels 1, 6 or 11 work best for most wireless adapters.

Try reading, How to login to your wireless router (your default Gateway is 192.168.1.1) I use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier.

I won't think it is needed further, as I told you that MY WIRELESS IS WORKING.

I am looking forward to resolve the problem for my LAN PORT. Please help.

May 15th, 2013 12:00

Hi Ishant,

It appears that both wireless and wired connections are connected at the same time. However, at one time only one connection would show up in notification area and that is the reason you are not able to get the LAN icon in notification area as the wireless is already connected.

You may check the status of Ethernet adapter in Network and Sharing center -> Change adapter settings

I would suggest you to disconnect the wireless internet and then connect the one end of Ethernet cable to the LAN port on laptop and other end to the router.

If the issue persists, please type command 'ipconfig /all' (without quotes) in command prompt while wireless is disconnected and Ethernet cable is connected and share the information here.

Please reply with the findings. I would be glad to help you.

Dear Sundeep,

There is no option for connecting or Disconnect for the LAN when I am  checking the status of Ethernet adapter in Network and Sharing center -> Change adapter settings, however the router is blinking for a very short moment in response to the LAN connection. Please see the screen shot.

We have the same laptop and the same network hardware configuration.As I suggested in my previous post : boot "EasyPeasy" and you should be able to connect to the internet via cable within seconds(without any additional driver installation) -  provided the Marvell network hardware is fine.This is a Windows independent "test" - you could even remove you harddrive and run the laptop just with this Linux OS.I suggested this test because your router had been damaged by lightning.
If you cannot connect to the internet with EasyPeasy you highly likely have to deal with a hardware problem.If you still think it's a software problem you might try to restore your system  to a previous state.

@David: As I mentioned earlier, my roommate is ablt to connect to LAN using his LANPORT of desktop and also, the Digisil setup is also installed into his own PC.

@Rick: Unfortunately, my Wifi has again stopped working and I don't know how? I have tried the earlier solution you gave however it is not working.

Please help

ishantjain,

If you used system restore and went back before you removed the adapter, the adapter will go back to it's old settings. You'll need to remove the adapter in the device manager and restart and install the drivers on your dekstop.

Start, control panel, network and sharing center, click on your connection, properties. Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties for each. Have your settings match mine.

When you were at the main network and sharing center, how many connections did you see? Your connection, but was there a local on or not?

Ans :  I wont think I have restored the system and I also tried this many time however I am not been ablr to update the driver.

Ans : I cannot see the "Connection option" as neither LAN nor Wifi is coming anywhere. If you remember yesterday, I followed this, by Sundeep, to send him the log detail :

Hi Ishant,

As per the ipconfig and screenshot, the LAN cable is not getting detected by the system. It might point towards the hardware failure. However, to eliminate any software corruption, I would suggest you to re-install the operating system and see if it helps.

For manual re-installation of Operating System, you may refer to article Here.

Note : Please backup the data on system before re-installing OS as OS re-installation leads to complete data loss.

Please reply if you have any questions.
