Which Monitor Will Best Work With Inspiron 15R (5537) BTX Base laptop

Question

I tried to hook up my old Dell monitor which appears to only have VGA to my new laptop with a VGA to DVI to HDMI double connection connectors/cords and it did not work and then I googled this and saw that I need another converter thingey. So, forget that. I guess VGA is just too old. Which monitors will work best with my new Inspiron 15R BTX and won't require all these converters? I want at least 20 inches. Will any of them work? I do not want to have any issues like I have read where the monitor is just black or gray and the laptop won't detect the new monitor. Thanks.

Any monitor with an HDMI or DVI input will work - that means the vast majority of those on the market now.
