Hi Stuart,

In "Dell Display Manager", an "Options" tab will be available to provide "PowerNap" energy conservation options. When the screensaver activates, the monitor's Brightness can automatically be set to minimum level or the monitor can be put to sleep in order to save additional power see the below image.

Try changing this setting and see if the issue fixes. If the issue still persists, please uninstall the "Dell Display Manager" application and check if this helps.

Do reply with results.

I am having the same issue with my new 8700/27HM combo. However, I cannot find this Dell Display Manger through the Control Panel.

I just downloaded the hardware reporting application "HWiNFO64" and a rather interesting bit of information related to DPMS is shown for my U2711 monitors, see below:

< can't load an image a.t.m -some network, server or browser issue ?? >

This tool shows that the U2711 does not support "standby" and "suspend" DPMS modes (which is odd but then again i'm not across DPMS capabilities). I was getting countless system lockups when the PC went into standby mode when using just one U2711 (but almost none when running two U2711 monitors connected to my Quadro 2000 grahics card) !!!

I wonder what DPMS capabilities the 27HM has (according to HWINFO) and what these really mean with regards to such monitor lockups one reads about....

Hi Saffron Blaze,

If Dell Display Manager is installed in your computer you will see a small blue Monitor Icon at the bottom right side of the Desktop. You can double click this icon to launch Dell Display Manager.

Hope this helps.
