From the sound of it, you have a hardware - not software - problem.  If your system is under warranty, call Dell for a mainboard replacement.  If it's out of warranty, you may want to consider buying a warranty extension, as the board replacement will easily be over $300 (the warranty extension should be less expensive than that).

Hi Tamerlan1991,

Welcome to the community.

Please check different USB device on the system to isolate this issue. Let us know if you have recently installed any new hardware or software on the system.

Check this link which would help you resolve this issue:

Also, as ejn63 suggested kindly check the system under safe mode. Check the link below to boot the system under safe mode:

windows.microsoft.com/.../start-computer-safe-mode

If the issue has began after installing any new updates or software then perform a system restore:

Do the ports work if you boot in safe mode?

Your best bet is to back up your data and do a factory restore (link below).  If that doesn't restore the USB function, you have a hardware problem.

Hi all,

I was going to try system restore, but it seems like there is a restore point which is a week ago. The issue is, usb ports are not working for more than 3 weeks. Now what am I supposed to do?

Hi Tamerlan1991,

Thanks for your reply. Please let us know if it worked fine under safe mode or not. Also, have you run the diagnostics suggested under this link: http://dell.to/11xP5AG .

Please update the below drivers for your system:

BIOS

thanks all for support, appreciate it. I have tried safe mode, updated bios and chipset drivers. So here what is going on:

- 2 USB ports are not working at all

- 1 USB port is working

- 1 USB port is always giving message "USB is not recognized"

Except system restore, I have tried all above you mentioned. I can't access F8, to reach Dell Factory restore. Can I get help?

I thank you all, appreciate your effort. I will call Dell company as you suggested. I will let you know once I done with it.

Hi Tamerlan1991,

Thanks for providing us this information. As earlier 3 USB ports were not working and now 2 of them works it seems like an issue with the Windows unable to detect USB devices.

Before getting the motherboard replaced on the system I would advise you to do clean re-install of Windows using the DVD. Please check the link below for performing the same:

Windows 7: http://dell.to/15MYHsz

Windows 8: http://dell.to/17qnyno

If you don't have the disks available please request them at the link below:

http://dell.to/Zj7oHA

And, if the system is under warranty we would be able to arrange the motherboard to replaced on the system.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.
