Hi MWNCA, Sorry about the confusion however, when I tried to configure the system from my end I am able to do it successfully with Win8 and 3 years complete care. You may contact the sales team and place an order through them. You can contact this number for further details. 1-800-999-3355 (US only). Please get back to me in case of any concerns.
Well, I just checked the online configuration, and it is still only reflecting Windows 7 as an option, not Windows 8. So, maybe in your system, you are able to configure, but from a consumer's point of view/options when making an online purchase, on that particular build, Windows 8 coverage is not visible.
I guess I will have to call a rep.
I have to tell you, I've only purchased Dell laptops and have always done online ordering. This time around, I don't nearly have the same number of customizable options. I find that on some builds, certain features are missing or incorrect (on this build, no option for the Windows 8 Accidental Protection/LoJack option. Another example, on the Inspiron 17RSE, with i7, windows 8, 1TB + 32GB SSD - no option to purchase any individual licenses for Microsoft office!).
On the particular model I want to purchase, I'd love the 1TB + a MSata/Hybrid drive, but it's not available as an option, but described under Features & Design tab on the model's description. Why describe the options, but not make them available for purchase?
Needless to say, this has been a very frustrating experience this time around and makes me question if I really want to place an order with Dell, or go to another manufacturer who offers the options I want.
