1) I downloaded BIOS Update A05 for the following system:
Dell Inspiron M5030 running Windows 64-BIT
2) I launhced the BOUS Update and it Froze at the Verifying stage (On Block FFFFFFFFh)
3) I let this run for about 30 min.
4) Before doing anything (Powering Off), I found this article.
5) I hit the power button (Not hold it down for 5 Secs.) and it just turned off
6) I powered back on, went into the BIOS Settings and it registered being A05
7) Restarted without saving and it noted the system had not shutdown properly. So, I restarted in Safe Mode. It booted fine. So, I restart the system normally.
8) During bootup, the VGA did have lines through it that just blinked but, once it got to Windows, all appeared fine.
9) I shutdown 1 more time, it installed 21 Updates but, everything was normal.
I think it may just be an anamoly but, if you have this issue, if you allow sometime before powering off, in an apparent freeze during the update, everything still works fine.
