During BIOS update verify that the computer is connected to an AC Adapter.
Disconnect any third party peripherals connected to the computer before performing BIOS update.
Do not turn off the computer during the BIOS update.
Do not restart the computer during the BIOS update.
Ensure battery charge is more than 30% during BIOS update.
Note: Plug your computer to a good, working UPS before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.
Obstructions in the fan/vent area can be resolved by opening the tower and clearing any obstructions.
Check for proper airflow:
Make sure the computer vents and fans remain clean of dust which can prevent the heat and fresh air to pass through efficiently. Additionally, verify that all fans are spinning correctly without unusual noises.
You can also run Diagnostics on the computer . Restart the computer by holding the FN and Power button simultaneously.
I bought the Dell 3521 laptop from an eBay US seller, I'm from Mauritius, on eBay site the item was described as Dell Inspiron 6190... But in the system properties, it's mentioned Dell inspiron 3521.... Should I install bios for 6190 or 3521? Should I install the latest bios straightaway or all versions of the bios one by one, ascending order? Plz help
I updated the bios, now no fan problem, it's quiet now, no irritating noise.
I've another question, when I bought the laptop, Windows 8 was already loaded, I want to know the 25 digits product key for windows, can you help me? In system properties, it indicates that windows has been activated. There's no sticker containing the 25 digits product /license key anywhere on the laptop, I contacted the eBay seller but he told me to contact Dell directly, please help, thanks
Hello, yes I know win 8 is preactivated, but I was thinking this.....suppose someday due to some problems I need to format the HDD of my laptop and do a fresh windows install, will I need to buy Windows? Or I download from Microsoft and use the product key to activate it? Thanks
Windows product key is injected onto the motherboard. So even if we do a clean installation of Operating system or a hard drive is replacement, Windows would automatically get activated as soon as we install the Operating system.
If in furture, motherboard is replaced, then we would send out the Product key with the motherboard to activate Windows.

Hi satyam.neer,
There is no system model with Inspiron 6190.Your system model should be Inspiron 3521. I suggest you to update BIOS version by version.
First check the BIOS version in BIOS. Restart the computer and tap F2 at Dell logo. Now check for the BIOS version.
Accordingly update BIOS on the computer version by version.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi satyam.neer,
Windows 8 product key is injected onto the motherboard. So you would not require any product key as these are pre-activated.
Please reply for further questions.

There is no Universal Windows 7 key. You would have to purchase an OEM or Retail copy. There isn't a WIN7 COA on the system.
