Thanks for the update, Sandeep!

Are these support lists viable to changes? Or is it final list and L502X will not be supported anytime in future?

Please let me know and i'll decide on that.

Hi Sankalp,

This system might not be able to handle the upgrade as of now. As the graphic card manufacturer might not be releasing the driver that would work with 8.1 system.

However, you never know in future there might be updates available or any third party drivers can also work on the system. Best would be to revert right now to Windows 8.0 right now and in after few weeks check if there are any other users who are able to update to 8.1 successfully.

Hope this answers your query. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

As discussed, i have tried installing the same driver as given in the link by you. I had installed it earlier too but for the same - no result.

You can check the screenshot here: http://imgur.com/QeOtuRO

At times, i doubt if the graphics card has got damaged. But two points that make me unsure even in that respect are:-

1) If the card is damaged why drivers are able to get installed?

2) If the card is damaged why nvidia smartscan is able to detect the card? http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-us

Thanks for your support,

Sankalp

Hi Sankalp,

Thanks for providing this details. I understand after updating to 8.1 Nvidia graphic card is not loading the drivers properly. I doubt it could be an hardware issue.

I believe current driver available for Nvidia 525 has some conflicts with the new 8.1 update. I have gone ahead and escalated the case to the concerned department.

Once we have an update from them we would get in touch with you. We appreciate your patience and cooperation. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

Thanks for your kind reply, Sandeep!

I have also tried installing the latest 331.58 driver, released just 2 days back. http://www.nvidia.in/Download/driverResults.aspx/68563/en-in

This is also not working for me. So i am also of the belief that the card has got damaged.

If you can help as to how it can be repaired (if possible), please let me know. I have got no issues in tearing down the hardware until i reach the card. I have performed the similar feat previously. :D

Thanks for bearing with me.

Hi SANKALP,

Thanks for your reply. I have received an update and unfortunately this system might not support Windows 8.1 update. It could be due graphic manufacturer not releasing the appropriate driver.

Please check this list which indicates that this system would not support Windows 8.1 upgrade:

8.1 upgrade list

It would be better if you roll back to Windows 8 to ensure your system working correctly. Please perform the system restore to revert to Windows 8.0.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

Hi Sankalp,

Sure would try my best to keep in in mind. However, you can keep on checking nvidia driver as well if they come up with 8.1 compatible driver then there is a possibility it might work with stablity.

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

It has been more than one year and still your website shows that XPS L502X does not support Win 8.1 Update. Is it only because of NVIDIA driver or are there other issues as well? If yes, then what are those other issues?

It is such a shame that such a powerful laptop is not able to support Win 8.1.
