Hi couchpotatoe,

If the system is giving error in Dell 32-bit diagnostics as well, it means the hard drive has gone bad and you need to replace it.

If you are residing in the US, you may contact dell spares to check for the price. Please refer to the link: http://dell.to/11GOIPD. For Owner Manual, you may refer to the link: http://bit.ly/Sl1m5z.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to reply for any further assistance.

Run the F12 preboot diagnostics:

Do you get 2000-0142 or 2000-0146 as an error message?

OK, so I was downloading or should I say upgrading to Windows 10, from windows 7.1 HomePro? I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. The computer once it finished downloading proceeded to restart and then I looked down at my computer screen and it's just black with white cursor larger than normal in the middle of the screen. I've tried every option there is I've hit F2 I can't boot in any way because the air code is 0146. Windows will not operate properly. I'm not concerned about my data because I just had my computer wiped clean so there's really nothing much on it. I've hit F12 I've hit every F option there is in and all it does is ring me back to that screen start Windows normally or repair and I've used both options and every time it brings me back to the cursor black screen cursor nothing else ho i've hit F12 I've hit every F option there is in and all it does is ring me back to that screen start Windows normally or repair and I've used both options and every time it brings me back to the cursor black screen cursor nothing else... So it seems your hard drive was about to fail, then with the Windows 10 upgrade (a lot of files were copied to it etc.) so its failed completely.

You will need to replace it preferably with a SSD. The 240 GB BX200 is a good buy:

Once you replace the SSD you will need to boot from a Windows 10 TH2 Bootable USB (prepared using the MBR partition scheme for Legacy BIOS) and clean install using your Windows 7 OEM product key:
