Ans 1: There may/ may not be a problem if you continue to overcharge it, however, the latest adapters have auto cut in functionality in them but you must avoid once it reaches 100%. Any battery has a limited charging cycles and for optimum life you need to fully charge it and fully discharge it while using in a single go.

PS: If you have a touch screen, please note that after the battery shows "Fully charged", if you continue to charge it further, you can hear a hissing sound coming out of the screen on a close inspection, which will stop once you disconnect the adapter so that may be an issue for its touch sensors.

Ans 2: Refer to Ans 1.

Ans 3: You may use any of these, however, my information to this question is limited.

Hi Vivin ,

Welcome to the Dell community!

Leaving your laptop plugged in all the time or never allowing your battery to fully charge when it's plugged in can actually reduce battery's charge capacity and shorten its life cycle. Refer to the following link for tips on how to improve battery life.

http://dell.to/1ghyX8O

Desktop Mode
When a system is plugged in continuously, it may reduce the battery health. When the desktop mode setting is enabled, it protects the battery by moderating the extent to which the battery is charged, thereby maximizing battery health. The display brightness remains the same as in plug-in mode. The battery only charges between 50-100% when desktop mode is enabled.

Longevity Mode
When a system is plugged in and unplugged several times a day, it may reduce the life of the battery. When the longevity mode setting is enabled, it protects the battery from frequent charge and discharge cycles. The battery only charges between 88%-100% when longevity mode is enabled.

You can enable both of them. Revert for further queries.
