Hi zandre007,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your technical expertise on the same.
This has to be issue with the Bluetooth detection on the computer as it was working fine with your previous speakers.
Please try removing the Intel Centrino Bluetooth driver from the Control panel, programs and features and reinstall the same
from the Dell’s support website by clicking on the link below.
http://dell.to/1dFtXxL

Type in the Service tag, under Drivers and downloads select the operating system and install the Bluetooth driver from Intel.
Restart the computer and try pairing the Bluetooth headphones on your computer again and let us know what happens next.

Reply us with your findings.

Thank you very much for your answer.

I did everything you told me- but when i unistalled bluetooth it asked me to restart which i did, and then I installed it again and restarted again

Should have I done this differently?

Do I need to reinstall bluetooth even if system is asking me to reboot to finish uninstalling it?

Also the drivers I got using this website and entering my service tag- http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/ca/en/cadhs1/drivershome/showproductselector  - can you please reasure me that dell.to is official website?

there was no bluetooth drivers listed there for my service tag and operating system,

so i got them from ftp://ftp.dell.com/Pages/Drivers/xps-l502x.html

driver that i installed was named "0PDK4_A03_ZPE"

And again same thing- bluetooth adds it as headset/headphones

Hope we finally solve this mistery....

Thanks

Andre

Hi zandre007,

Thank you for your co-operation and as the old Sony speakers were working fine on this computer and on this Bluetooth speakers are not getting recognized. Please try connecting and pairing the Bluetooth speakers on another computer which has Windows 7 OS and has the Bluetooth option.

Please try this and let us know if this helps.

Hi zandre007,

Thank you for your response, I appreciate that you’ve tried connecting the Bluetooth speakers on your friend’s computer.
Unfortunately looks like the issue is with the Bluetooth Speakers as mentioned earlier the previous speakers were recognized and functioning fine. When checking on another computer with the same operating system it did the same. I’d suggest you to please contact the Bluetooth speaker's manufacturer for the same for further answers.

Let us know if this helps.

Hi,

I have update on the case- so the problem is not that speaker is recognised as headphones- the problem is that auto-connect doesn't work with dell.

I got asus bluetooth dongle that i have installed on my desktop. Speakers are recognised as headphones but they auto-connect.

Also once they are AUTO connected they are recognised as speakers

That is not the case with bluetooth dell adapter 1030 from intel. So what am i suposed to do? I have installed the latest drivers from dell website- should I contact intel or windows or dell?

Thanks

Andre

Hi zandre007,

Thank you for your message, I appreciate your technical expertise on the same.
It looks like the issue is with the operating system as the Sony speakers worked fine on this computer where as these Bluetooth speakers are causing issues in getting connected and recognizing. Please backup the data and perform the Factory reset on your computer where the hardware and software will be restored to the day 1 and click on the below link which has steps to restore computer to factory settings.

Note: Please backup the data before you perform the Factory reset

Thank you very much for your answer.

I have restored my Dell laptop to factory settings- updated all the drivers to the latest version, did all windows updates, but unfortunatelly problem is still not resolved. While this speaker automatically connects to my other desktop PC

i have to go into bluetooth operations and do abraka-dabra in order to connect.

see detailed post here

Hi!

I have upgraded to Intel 6230 wireless mini card (old one was 1030), and I  have installed latest driver updates from dell website,

again same problem- speaker does not auto connect

it is doing this and doesn't want to go any further

tried removing drivers- reinstalling them- nothing works- i can still play music etc but all the connections have to be done manually

speaker is auto connecting witm my (non-dell) desktop, so i know the problem is not the speaker

please advise

Andre

SOLVED!

the trick is to install drivers from intel site and one has to instal bluetooth drivers before one installs wirless drivers.

see this article

http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-032541.htm

i was installing drivers from dell website- i gues they didn't work properly this time...

now my bluetooth speaker connects automatically to my laptop and overrides my laptop speaker

YAY!!!

Hi Andre,

Congratulations!!!
I appreciate your troubleshooting, research and efforts in getting the right resolution for your computer.
You’re absolutely right the Intel drivers mostly are to be installed from the Intel’s website and most of the times the Dell’s support website will also have the updated drivers for its 3rd party hardware, Unfortunately it didn't work this time. We’re really happy that the issue is fixed and your computer’s paired to the Bluetooth speakers now and if in case any issues in future, please reply us and we’ll be glad to assist you further.

I need help with the same problem.  My Dell 3550 (Windows &, 64 bit) was able to read an play via Bluetooth my iPhone.  However, it could only read two different sets if portable speakers--Canz and Jam Audio--and won't Both showed up as head sets.  Neither play on our home Dell, but they both play on my son's HP and Apple computers.  I tried updates the drivers per the instructions, but don't know if I did the correct ones.  In any case, now when I try to add a device, I get nothing.  Also, when I try to pair a previously found device, the Bluetooth Device Operations and Setting box that normally opens no longer says Bluetooth Device Operations and Setting.  Instead it says the name of the device and the options under Tasks, i.e., Configure, Add, and Show, have all disappeared.

The drivers I added are shown below:

Can anyone help?  Thx
