Same here. says 100 % charge. but not operate without it pluged in . happened right after left it pluged in all night and tried it in the morning, and bout a week ago it went from seat to floor when I hit the brakes but seemed to work then. What to do. ???
I have an inspiron 14 touch screen. The warranty just expired. I have the same message. I have also tried everything that Dell recommends. It is nothing to do with the battery health. This is a Dell system error and I do not think they know the answer to the problem. Basically, Dell does not know their systems well.
This will be the last time I buy a Dell. My business has always bought Dell products but no more.. Their customer service ***. I called and because my warranty had expired, they gave me a Dell Express Code and I called the 1-800 number and the call obviously was answered in India. She wanted to know where I purchased the computer. I said either bestbuy or Sams Club but I cannot be 100% sure. She said I have to register for her to help me in anyway. I gave her my name, phone number, business name - she said sorry.
Now the best part: I go to the Dell support site and try to register with my service tag and it says you have already registered. I bought the laptop brand new and nobody else could have registered it. I may have. But if I did, why don't they know my name? So long Dell! If anyone responsible at Dell is reading this, please email me at admin@radiant-montessori.com
09/26/2015 As you say, nothing Dell suggests fixes the problem. My 5720 Dell is a powerful machine and has served me well until this happened. Now I've bitten the bullet and got a new Lenova. None I've seen who have described this problem have reported a solution that worked. If Dell would have told me that it's a fatal issue I could live with it but they threw a bunch of solutions out that those IT people must have known wouldn't work. Tells me they aren't entirely up on their machines and it'll be a while before i look at a Dell again.

I figured out the solution to this problem. Unfortunately, I am not sure if this is the right one but it does work for me and it allows me to use the computer with the battery and the adapter and battery is charging as usual. No more error messages.
Go to setup (F2) and go to "Advanced" tab. You will see an option called Adapter Warnings. Disable that option. I had it enabled.
Now the computer works as it is supposed to. One thing I am not sure about: In the setup, I think somewhere in the screen, Adapter Type, it says "None." It may be that the adapter needs a driver or something. I am not sure. Anyway, I do not care. I am waiting to get rid of this Dell and buy a different computer.

I am sad that this didn't help my situation. I sure would like to be able to use my laptop on battery.
