I will have to look up the tag when I get home.  I know it SHOULD be able to do 2560 x 1440 with the DVI cable(s).  I have done the factory reset, updated drivers for monitor and video card, tried both dvi ports on two different video cards, with 2 different dvi cables.    I've ordered a displayport cable to try it to see if it will work, even though the DVI cable that came in the box from dell SHOULD work.

Are you sure the DVI cables you are testing are DVI-D Dual Link and not Single Link? The Outlet might have sent you the incorrect cable.

harley2ride,

The Dell Outlet only has refurbished/used monitors with 90 day warranties. So it is not new. Send me the service tag number and I can tell you how old it really is. If the video card DVI ports are DVI-D Dual Link, you should be able to do 2560x1440.
DVI-D, DisplayPort 2560x1440
VGA 2048x1152
HDMI 1920x1080 (16:9 aspect ratio so no 1920x1200)

Have you reset the monitor to defaults using the OSD (On Screen Display) Menu, Other Settings- Factory Reset- Reset All Settings?

The outlet sent me DVI-I single link.   That must be the problem..

Contact Technical Support. Tell them that you purchased the U2713HM from the Dell Outlet. Provide to them the service tag number, your shipping address, phone, email. They should setup an order to send you the DVI-D Dual Link cable, part number MPGMR.
