* 24" and smaller monitors do not get a Dell Service Tag number. Because you did not purchase the monitor directly from Dell, you must follow these steps below -
* Save the invoice from the store. Based on the purchase date on that invoice, we will warranty the monitor for 3 years. If you ever need a monitor replacement, you will need to contact Dell Order Support (not Dell Technical Support) for your country. You will provide to them via email a picture or PDF of the original invoice showing us the purchase date, and your information. If you lose the original invoice, we will not warranty the monitor. So you would provide the following data to the Dell Order Support representative if you ever need a monitor replacement:

Purchase date =
Monitor Model =
Dell Monitor PPID Serial number:
[Your]
Email =
Name =
Shipping Address =

mj213,

Power the computer off. Remove the working monitor from the computer. Test the other monitor by itself on the computer. If possible, test both: video card VGA to monitor VGA and video card DVI to monitor DVI. Be sure to do monitor Menu button OSD (On Screen Display), go to Other Settings and choose Factory Reset, Reset All Settings.

Chris,

Thanks for your response.  I disconnected the other monitor altogether, reset factory defaults, tried 3 different cables, and with 2 different video cards.  It happens with vga, dvi, and hdmi-dvi cable.

When it stops jittering (after 5 seconds or so) and the autoadjust box goes away, it's like there's a protective film on the screen that makes everything slightly out of focus.  I turned it off and then back on and it was fine.

Because your in warranty monitor only has an attached Dell Order number and not a Dell Service Tag number, contact Dell Customer Support. Provide to them the following data so they can setup a like for like monitor exchange =
Email Address:
Name:
Shipping Address:
Phone number:
Monitor Order number:
Monitor 20 digit alphanumeric PPID serial number:
Reason:
Note: Once outside of the initial 30 days from the original invoice date, the replacement will be a refurbished/used monitor

Hey Chris,

I cannot get to an email address without a service tag, and when I call support, they cannot find any information to associate the items to an account of some sort in their system.  Being that I bought it at Best Buy, and I do not have an order number or anything, how can I approach this?

CTS wanted a service tag that would have been ordered with the monitor, but I don't have one.

24" and smaller monitors purchased from Dell are provided with a Dell order number but not a Dell service tag number. This order number automatically "registers" you to the monitor. You cannot register a 24" or smaller monitor via the online tools. Because 24" and smaller monitors do not get a service tag number, if you ever need it exchanged while under warranty, you must contact Customer Service (not Technical Support) for your country and provide to them the following information -

Name:
Email address:
Shipping address:
Phone number:
Monitor order number:
Monitor 20 digit PPID serial number:
Operating system:
Video card:
Video card ports tested:
