Is it possible to add disks to RAID10 using OSMA
My current configuration is:
Dell PowerEdge R510 with PERC H700 RAID controller. I have 2 x 300Gb 15k disks and 6 x 600Gb 15k disks.
The 2 x 300Gb disks are on RAID1 for the OS
The 6 x 600Gb disks are on RAID10 for the DATA
Is it possible to add 4 x 600GB 15k disks to the RAID10 without restarting or any dataloss?

No. RAID Level Migration/Online Capacity Expansion cannot reconfigure TO or FROM a nested RAID level (10/50/60). You'll need to backup/restore or create a separate RAID array.

Hi. Thanks for your reply and answer.
One more question if I create separate array with the 4 disks RAID10 would I see a performance hit in terms of I/O on the other RAIDs?

At some point, too many spindles in a RAID 10 becomes a liability and reduces performance - usually once the disk throughput saturates and is limited by the system bus. I recently heard (so likely applicable to PCIe 2.0 generation machines) that 10-12 disks (5-6 spindles) is the sweet spot - a good balance of RAID and system performance. There may be someone else with more experience running and testing large RAID 10's that can share what they've found to be the case on their machines.
