New venue 8 pro problems

Hello,

I have a new Venue 8 Pro and I've been having some problems. My touch screen seems to work fine on win 8's start screen, but when I use the browser or any of the programs on my desktop, the responsiveness of my clicks goes down the drain. Some programs only respond if I double-click. Is there a way to change this? Also, browsing the internet is absolutely terrible because I  just can't seem to click on anything. It takes me 5+ times. With the iPhone you can pinch and pull the browser screen, is there some way I can get it to work on this venue 8 pro? Is there a browser app vs having to use the browser in desktop mode? I can't seem to find one. If this was somehow fixed with the win 8.1 update...apparently my keyboard will not work so I have not been able to update windows ;|

In a similar vein, are there any stylus pens that work with this tablet right now other then the one dell is selling? This tablet was originally to be used to take hand written notes, so I need a pen which will work well with fast handwriting. Since it doesn't work with the Wacom bamboo stylus and the random ds styluses that I have...I'm kind of at a loss for what to do. I really hope I don't need to return this because it was a gift, and I want to love it!

This is my first windows tablet so any advice would be great...

Thanks

Well,

My question hasn't been answered yet so I spent the day figuring it out. It turns out you can't change the touch screen settings to single click, BUT you can easily change the file settings to single click. This means you will still need to double click in games, but on the desktop it works great. Also, the web issues I was having? They were from chrome! Firefox takes a bit longer to load, but it actually works. Just use ctrl++ instead of pinching.

I have had no issues of that type whatsoever.  Have you applied the Dell panel touch firmware update?  Others have posted that it fixes panel double-touch issues.

Thanks, 2 hours on the phone with Dell, lots of file uploads, they fixed the problem. And I agree with the first post, the IE works better than Google. Thanks!

I use Firefox also, pinching has always worked, also if you are interested (being new to Firefox) if you right click on top bar, box will drop giving you a customize option in there you will see a -+ icon which you can drag and drop on the toolbar this will give you the ability to make web page larger and smaller with ease, I use it all the time on my 42" monitor while sitting on the couch. Also you will see there are two different bookmark icons, one gives you a drop down style (my favorite, it saves you web page real estate) the other gives you expanding view (I believe this is the default, when loading firefox). And as for that longer loading, I found that happened after there last update, its annoying, go figure.

Dell didn't fix my touch screen issues with DV8P. I updated the device firmware to A05 latest. Restarted it, then attempt to update the touch screen firmware. But I can't because previously under the old device firmware, I already updated it to A02 firmware.

Everything was ok, for a couple of hours, then the ghosting screen came back. Dell refused to answer my question. So will it be ok to ask, how did you update your touch screen firmware or reflash it once it is already on its latest?

Hi. I originally had the problem with my touches "bouncing" and making the popup keyboard almost unusable. The update above mentioned by Mikerman was the cure for it.

If it tells you that it's already applied, I'd be looking for evidence of a screen problem. For example, uneven bonding of the layers could produce strange results. I think that was a problem for Acer for a while and they replaced some. However, that it worked for a while after Dell stepped you through makes me suspicious that it's NOT a hardware issue.

Currently all Dell updates and Windows updates aboard and have not seen the problem.

To answer your question, going into Device Manager and finding the hardware should let you delete the driver. Be sure to download the replacement driver and have it available on the PC so you can point to it when it asks for it. (I've never tried this, but I've heard of it being done successfully.)
