New directly from Dell, Dell Outlet, or a reseller?
Was it this way out of the box?
Try this: * While the computer is on and the monitor is still connected to the computer video card via our Dell supplied cabling, turn off the monitor * Disconnect the monitor power cord from the bottom of the monitor * Press and hold in the monitor power button for 10 seconds * Reconnect the monitor power cord * Turn the monitor on * Is the padlock still flashing? If yes, press the Menu button for 10 seconds. What happens?
Not sure where from. Was purchased by company and shipped to me. Can look into it.
The monitor can't be 'turned off' as the power buttonor any other of the 4 buttons do anything. After unplugging monitor, holding the power button for 10 seconds, reconnecting (which automatically turns the monitor on), the padlock is STILL flashing. Holding the menu button for 10 seconds does nothing. Any more ideas?
You will need to find out from the company what the Dell order number was on the original Dell monitor invoice. It is the only way to tie this monitor to any warranty. When was it given to you? What is the monitor 20 digit alpha-numeric serial number and revision number?
Because your company purchased the 24" monitor from a reseller, you must follow these instructions. Your company should have received an invoice from Amazon. Based on the purchase date on that invoice, we will warranty the monitor for 3 years from your purchase date. If you ever need a monitor replacement, you will need to contact Customer Service (not Technical Support) for your country. You will provide to them via email or fax a picture or PDF of the original invoice showing us the purchase date, and your information. If you lose the original invoice, we will not warranty the monitor. So you would provide the following data to the Customer Service representative if you ever need a monitor replacement: Brick or Online Store: Amazon Purchase date: Monitor model: Monitor 20 digit PPID serial number: CN-0YMYH1-74261-39L-201L [Your] Email address: Name: Shipping address: Phone number: Operating system: Video card: Video card ports tested: Issue:
I had the same problem with a brand new Dell 2412M. I just pushed the "OSD menu" button and then started flashing that padlock icon. I couldn't solve the problem, tried everything, but no luck, so I contacted with the vendor I brought from, and also contacted with Dell. Since it was a brand new monitor which had warranty, Dell replaced with a new one in just a few days, and the defected one was also shipped back to Dell. My advice is try all the suggestions you read in this forum, and if you can't solve it yourself, you'll need to contact with Dell to replace if you have warranty. I use the replaced monitor since then and have no problem.
I'm an artist and now I'm using two 2412M monitors, they are really good.
