There are now over a dozen different models of Inspiron 15R -- some do, and some do not have backlit keyboards - some can take them and some cannot. Which model 15R are you asking about? The current 15Rs appear to be the ones ending in 37 (3537, etc.). These have been confirmed NOT to support backlit keyboards.

Correct -- none of the xx37 systems will support a backlit keyboard.
