fatal error c000043

Question

my son'sdell inspion duo will not now boot up - only comes up with this fatal error message when trying to apply an update ( operation 434 on 93519 - nktml ... )- will not launch start up repair - looked on line but all advice needs a CD and this machine has no CD rom - any help gratefully received

Press F12 at powerup and boot to the Dell diagnostics.  Run an extended hard drive test.
