Hello Folks,

I have a laptop as described above in the subject field, turn it on this morning booted up then after a few minutes the screen went blank i.e black first time this has happen.

I have turn it on and off a few times however the same thing happens, thing is this has just happen this morning wonder whether the screen is on its way out as I have had the laptop for over seven years and has not given me any problems before.

Any help or videos would be gratefully received, Thanks very much

See if there is an image on an external screen when the internal one goes black.  If there is, it's a dying inverter or backlight.

If there is not, then it's more likely a failing video chip.

It would require a replacement mainboard - they're not overly expensive - about $100 for integrated video (you don't want the nVidia version even if that's what you have now -- they're well known to be an engineering disaster).

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply, I shall try both options, if its the video chip would this be expensive to replace, thanks for your advice.
