Try going to the Intel site and getting the latest 2100 driver.

Dear John,

Thank you for the info.

The latest driver that was listed was the Intel Pro Set 7.1.2.0,  Devicemgt 7.1.2.10 and deviceddriver 1.2.2.8.  In the associated doc Windows 2003 is not listed.

Further I need a certain type of subscription to download the driver. (OEM - ...)

My feeling is that the Dell WIndows XP driver should work, but that there is some software control layer in Microsoft that forbids the use of it.  This is of course understandable for the viewpoint of a classical server setup, but as a teacher it would be very usefull to have 1 laptop to show everyting about Microsoft 2003 server.  To solve this, someone with experience in Microsoft driver design would be usefull, or perhaps a rainy week in summer will bring the time needed to jump into it for me.

Thanks for the reply,

Regards,   Wim De Bruyn

P.S. I found a similar question on http://www.ntcompatible.com/thread26382-1.html so we are not the only ones looking for it

I downloaded the appropriate drivers from the dell website, then I went to the device manager and manually installed the drivers (pointing to the directory they were extracted).

That did the trick.

Of course, it won't install all the apps that the setup.exe would install, but it makes the wifi works under w2k3 server.

Hope that helps,

Brice.

Do you use the XP drivers when you install Windows 2003 on the laptop?  I installed Windows 2000, but now I see you can make Windows 2003 works, I'll want to reformat...  I need Server OS as I'm using MS SQL Server 2000 which uses functions that needs the fullblown version of SQL.

Thanks, :-)

My guess is the XP drivers too, but I just wanted to hear if that was what the instructor had used since he said he got it working.  I don't have the wireless card on my system.  Was hoping to get a confirmation that "Yes this worked fine on my system and I..." before I get started on setting up 2003 Server.  It's a major task as I've got so much "stuff" on my system right now.

Thanks for your feedback, :-)

xp is closer to 2003 server than w2k (I'm not speaking from a gui standpoint), so I would say xp drivers (note that I'm using the Intel Wireless Pro 2200).

hope that helps.

We are also trying to get the Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 WLAN card to work with Windows 2003 on a Latitude D800.  I can't get the XP drivers to install, and also can't find updated drivers on the Intel site.  Has anyone else been successful?
