Just an update, I've successfully installed Windows 8.1 Pro on my XPS 13 9333 (i7-4650u) machine.
It's important to use the Intel SSD driver during the installation, before the location for the installation is selected. Afterwards, I selected UEFI mode and everything is tip top!
When you install a new OS it's always better to completely erase all partitions and format the drive before you attempt the installation. Are you doing this or are you just loading the OS to a partition that already exists? In my mind....if you don't have a touch screen then you have no need to run Windows 8....especially 8.1. I don't like the fact that you have to "log-in" to Microsoft with 8.1 installed. I like to run free and fast so I don't need Microsoft coming along for the ride.
Hi Drdino Can you explain more on "Intel SSD driver during the installation, before the location for the installation is selected"? Can you tell me how to load intel SSD driver? Is there a procedure that you can share? Johnny

I agree. Do you have "Secure Boot" enabled in BIOS (UEFI)? Do you have UEFI?

I am doing a clean install where I've deleted all of the partitions and have formatted the drive.
My machine does have a touch screen so 8.1 would probably be better suited.

I've done the installation in Legacy mode. Does it have to be done in uefi mode?
