It seems that the Dothan Pentium-M will be launched in the near future (?? 11th May 2004 ??) so I it _COULD_ be possible that the 600m is replaced by another one. But it's only a guess.
With the 600m you can get the 64MB video card; on the D600 only the 32MB. Although they are both M9's that 32MB extra improves HALO allot ALLOT! you can play it descently at 1400x1050 best settings but no AA/AF but only with the 64MB video card/SXGA+ which is only availible in the 600m! So basically 600m is meant for more gaming/happy home use. As the D600 is for business people who really don't play games and work and that's it 24/7!
I sure hope it sticks around for a while longer. Got some unexpected expenses to pay for so I won't be buying until later on this month. By that time the new centrino (or whatever it is called now) should be out though so maybe Dell will have a big sale to get rid of the old ones.

Yes, the 600m still sports one 9-pin serial connector port and I believe it still will for at least until you are ready to order in a couple weeks.

There are some good looking D600 in dell outlet that cost LESS than the same config of 600m and they come with a 3 yr warranty which is extra on 600m.
Searching the dell notebook parts I can not find the 53Whr battery that 600m has available for D600. Would it work?
