I can't get my Dell Inspiron 17 R to start properly. Help!

My Dell laptop won't start properly and I can't get any of the troubleshoot options to work at all.  It is running on Windows 8.  Each of the troubleshoot options won't work for one reason or another. These are the messages I get when I try to use them.

Refresh your PC - "The drive Windows Is installed on is locked. unlock the drive and try again."

Reset your PC - "Unable to reset your PC. A required Drive Partition is missing."

Dell Backup and recovery - I don't have any backups to use.

System Restore - "To use system restore, you must specify which Windows installation to restore. Restart this computer, select an operating system, and then select System Restore"

Load system image - "An internal error occurred.  The following information might help you resolve the error.  The system cannot find the file specified (0x80070002)"

Automatic repair - "Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC"

And using UEFI Firmware settings to "load optimal defaults" then using exit saving changes just makes it try to start normally again only to fail like before

Can somebody please help?  If you think you know whats going on or if you know how to fix it please respond.  Any support is appreciated.

If you need more information just ask.

Hi Sisemore,

Sound like a bad drive. Run the PreBoot Assesment by tapping F12 key during powerup and selecting Diagnostics. Jot down any information provided by the diagnostics as you will need it when you call for service.

Before that you may wish to check BIOS settings for a HDD password? just an afterthought. Locked HDD?
