Try cleaning the fans/heatsink with compressed air(i.e. blow it through the fan hole)!!! because overheating due to dust is a serious 5100/5150 problem. If that doesn't work then contact DELL or wait for someone else to reply

Was the system dropped at all?  It sounds like the flexing is causing a short circuit - could be a cracked chassis, cracked board, or a loose board -- check to make sure the screws are all tight.  Failing that, if you got a 3-year warranty, it will still be covered - send it back to Dell for repair.

no it was never dropped (as far as i know) but the strange thing is, i can keep it up-side-down or angled, as long as i dont give pressure on the bottom. Can it still be a cracked board/casing then?

I would start by tightening screws and reseating the memory and the mini-pci if present.

I think its loose hardware/wires.  My desktop had the same exact problem.

Well, as a general precaution, i blew compressed air through the vents...but since i suspected loose things, i reseated almost everything on my desktop. RAM, HDD, etc. then i checked the actual wires, and replugged them in firmly.

and my problem was fixed.
