I have had enough now . I have try this install every way possible and it can't be installed . I even went to try to see if my windows 7 disc was the cause by installing windows on my pc desktop, no problems with installment. So the disc is good. Any ways I give up and I'm sending this unit back to MS and get a full refund . Now I need to figure how to do a factory reset . Thanks

It will depend on the system model - some do and some do not have Windows 7 support.

In all cases, it needs to be done  as a ground-up install - the hard drive has to be wiped clean to start the installation.

In the BIOS Main screen I see the hard drive under Fixed Drive . Under Boot I have disable Secure Boot, have Load Legacy Option Rom enable Boot List Option is set to Legacy . I get windows loading the files, then Starting windows and then right after I get the error. I have try this with a windows 7 sp1 disc and I even try it using a usb flash stick with Windows, still getting the error ... Oh yeah and the usb post is 2.0 which I'm using an external usb optical 2.0 drive

You'll see a prompt like "press F6 to load a storage driver" during the initial startup.  Press F7 then.

System >> Inspiron-15-3531 >>> BIOS version >>> A01

Well that's really odd . I have a clean hard drive, in fact I have try with 2 different hard drives and still both have the same issues . I am using a retail windows 7 sp1 disc, with an usb optical drive. I can't even get past the windows logo without getting the error

The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your System vendor for an updated BIOS.
Technical Information:
Stop: 0x000000A5     (0x0000000000000011, 0x0000000000000008, 0xFFFFFFFFFFd16018, 0X0000000000040000)

I even updated the BIOS to version A01 and still have the error ...  This model number shows it has drivers for windows 7 but if you can't even load windows how is it possible to install it ?

Is there a legacy mode for the USB ports in BIOS setup?  Windows 7 may not install from a disc in a drive connected to a USB 3.0 port.

Can you get the install to proceed if you disable ACPI (F7 when prompted at the blue screen startup page)?

That's the problem I think, I don't get that far. What I get is >>> Windows is loading files and then Starting Windows, just right after within 5 seconds I get BSOD . There no end of the initial file beside starting windows

You'll see it toward the end of the initial file loading process.

The following link will explain about the error (same as in Windows 7):

I don't see that options, it goes straight to windows is loading files and there no options afterwards . I like to know if anyone from DELL even try to install with windows 7 with this model ?

I have the same issue on my 11-3147 laptop. It clearly states Windows 7 can be installed. Hitting "F7" does not get me into any type of menu. It simply goes to the BSOD as stated above.

Hopefully someone from Dell support is monitoring this thread and can give us some help with getting Windows 7 installed. Not that I don't like Windows 8.1 I want to do a dual boot configuration and run both..

Hey Balaji M Kundalam why isn't windows giving me the F7 key option, or better yet why don't I see when windows is loading files this F6 option screen ? From your website link there, how can one do such if one can't even get the F6 / F7 keys options ?

Next question: is this a FULL Windows 7 disc, or an upgrade disc (you need the former - not the latter)?
