Hi bykprobs,

Welcome to the community.

In this case you can try to release the static power by performing the following steps-

Remove the battery as well as the AC Adapter from the system. Press and hold down power button pressed for 10 seconds. This will release the static power from the computer.

Once done, keep the battery unplugged and connect back the AC Adapter. Check the status of the LED on the AC Adapter when connected to the laptop. Then press the power button and check what all you see on the screen or in case you hear any beeps. Also check the status of the Power button LED of the laptop.

Let me know of the findings. Glad to be of assistance.

Hi bykprobs,

I would request you to try these steps.

  1. When the laptop is being used, press F3 key on the keyboard to check battery status and the battery health.
  2. Turn off the computer. Restart it. As soon as the Dell logo appears, press F2 three to five times. A blue screen will appear .
  3.  Please check as to what is displayed across “AC adapter type” and “Bios version” and inform me.

4. Please also check the status of the LED on the AC Adapter when connected or not connected to the laptop.

Please try these steps and let me know of the outcome.

This is the screenshot of my BIOS system. My BIOS appears to be A07

The LED on the adapter is on and working fine.

Hi bykprobs,

Thank you for performing the steps. The possible part that has gone faulty could either be the Ac Adaptor or the Motherboard.

To isolate the part that has gone bad, please check if any of your friends have a similar Ac Adaptor or you can walk up to a Dell store and try using it with your laptop. If that works, the current Ac Adaptor is faulty. If that does not work additional parts may have to be replaced.

Please check the warranty status of the laptop using the link below.

I've tried using a different adapter, it is still the same. My warranty has expired and do you have any idea which part of motherboard that cause the battery problem? Is it possible that the problem is from the current battery faulty?

Since the adapter is recognized, but the battery is not, the problem is indeed more likely a bad battery than anything else.  How old is the system/battery?  Is there any sign of life from LEDs on the battery itself?

Hi bykprobs,

All rechargeable batteries wear out with time and usage. Please buy new battery for your system. If issue still persist then replace the motherbaord. The LED indicator allows to see how much run time and how much overall battery life are available at the touch of a button. Each light that appears accounts for approximately 20% charge.

Let me know if you need more help and we'll be happy to help.
