I just try this before write here and It doesn't work. I sent the machine to the service. I am still waiting for news. The only thing that they told me is that it works with a samsung usb 3.0 HD without problems.
Hi, I have laptop back from service. They told me that is an incompatibility between laptop and hdd, they try with another provider and it works. The problem occurs in linux and windows. Can I update usb firmware? Thanks Fernando
The first link among the two links posted is for USB 3.0 firmware update . See if you have installed that driver . If you have already installed and if its still not working than we are looking at a compatibility issue .
Hi, I took it to the service for a test and there is no problem with usb ports so, they tested another brand, since that I have a Samsung USB disk with no problems. Good luck !! Fernando
They must know about this problem... not so much as a "we're working on it" ?
Even better would be a "we'll give you a status update on " but that requires a very high degree of organization... not sure if they'd be willing to pay someone that much.
Has anyone found a way to workaround or better deal with this issue?
It's a bit annoying to have a USB port which transfers data quickly but to always have to worry if the data will finish transferring before the port seemingly randomly disconnects.

I have the same issue - any info would be appreciated.
All USB 3.0 devices from different manufacturers have this issue - if I plug them in through a USB 2.0 hub, they work (albeit considerably slower!)
I would really like to resolve this, as my job requires me to move large files using USB 3.0 drives!

Does Dell read these forums?

Are there any updates on this?
Has anyone found a way to workaround or better deal with this issue?
