I decided to run the diagnostics by pressing F12 on startup. It indicated a HD issue. I didn't think that a hard drive issue could cause an issue like this?
Unplug the system, remove the battery, and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Plug in the AC adapter and go into BIOS setup (F2 at powerup). Is the adapter recognized or listed as "unknown"?
What was the exact hard drive error (probably began with 2000-)?

It listed "AC Adapter Type" as none, and this did not seem to solve my issue.
