I had the same problem this month (March 2016) and tried the same solutions. Then after 2 days, my printer suddenly cycled on by itself ... and began working again. And it proceeded to print out the documents that had been queued up.
Amazing we're all 5 year owners of this machine...where are the actual sensors? When I open the toner door, all the hinges look plastic to me. Do you have pics where and what I need to look for?
i been having the same problem with a few old 2335 dn printers and what really odd is i was trouble shooting it and decided to tape down the 4 sensors on the the side and one in the back where the toner cartridge belong with out the toner cartridge while holding the sensor for the door it self down with a small flat head screw driver the sensor error had gone away so i figured id remove the tape put in a brand new toner cartridge and at the same time holding the door sensor down with a flat head still i attempted to print and it did not respond i power cycled it and had closed the door rather pressing the door sensor my self and tried to print a network report i still received no response from the printer attempting to print at all so i read a few support claims just encase i figured id change the pick up roller with a brand new one and still received the problem with no error it just simply wont print i then replaced the feed tray scanner as the printer did have a report's from users in the past to jam once in 2016 (6) times in 2017 (30 plus) times in 2018, yet again i received the same problem and no error so im thinking its safe to assume its the power supply that is did create the false error maybe there is to little power connecting through the device from the power supply ether way it seems to be logical to replace that i will not report my final results but i recommend if you get false errors change the power supply i also replace the toner door and fuser door and just about every other part on the printer before changing the power supplies just to test this theory ideally its not cost effective to replace the power supply in my opinion

This problem could be the result of damaged sensor and actuators.
