The windows Vista Driver for X86 or X64 works fine in windows 7 or windows 8 or windows 8.1 You will also need the AMT HECI drivers if the system has Vpro

I was just at Dell.com for my Optiplex 755, giving Windows 10 64-bit Preview a try.
ONLY the XP driver is listed under VISTA 64-bit, I am sure causing many to end up here.
I have not actually tried just the old XP driver R228747- seems like a waste of time.
Listed under VISTA 32-bit is Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated HD Audio, v.6.10.2.7260, A09
R164900.exe
Compatible Systems
Precision T3400 (Late 2007)

Hi all. Well to my dismay, I think a Windows update scuppered my sound again!. This time even repeating the previous fix or downloading and re-installing various sound drivers, I found none worked. I was at the point of getting a replacement PC when I came across this possible fix :-
.
Start>Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>System>Advanced System Settings>Device Installation Settings
At this point I had the 'No Let Me Choose' selected and I changed to 'Yes Do This Automatically' (for Drivers) and the next day when I logged on the sound was back!
