Hi Doplinger,

On most systems with switchable graphics, the Intel card drives all the physical video outputs. Due to this, there won't be an option for Windows to use the Nvidia card as it's display device. On older systems with Optimus, you could choose your primary video card by disabling Optimus in the BIOS.

The Intel card supports Aero. If you're having trouble with Aero, please follow the guide here:

Not that I remember.  I don't think I have ever seen that option pop up, because Windows doesn't load either driver anyway.

HI,

When you installed windows was there an option on which GPU to be used as default?

Yes, I'm getting that impression now, though I do not see aero on the desktop even though I specifically enabled it during setup.  I'll follow that link and see if I can get it working.  Thanks!

Well, that didn't really help.  This is a brand new laptop, so I would assume that the Intel graphics should be able to handle aero, and like I said, there was even an option to enable it during setup.  That help link is for Windows Vista, and as you know it is very different from Windows 8.1.  When I go to display properties to choose features, there is no reference to transparency or aero, though in my saved settings, the thumbnail image shows what looks like areo.

After doing more searches, I'm coming up empty handed, but I'll keep trying.
