USB 2.0 Port Replicator Problems -- Is the fix coming???

Since it's now been over a month since Dell finally admitted the problem existed, are we ever going to get a fix? Doesn't seem like an 'over a month to fix' problem unless they are just putting us off until it's forgotten about or we're all out of warranty.

True, but I said over a month since they finally admitted the problem existed... 1 or 11 months is too long to wait for a fix for something of this magnitude.

A month is nothing...the earliest post I've found on this is from 5/19/2003, entitled "USB mouse stops working with D600 and D/Port" -- so...make that nearly 11 months since it was first reported in the forums...probably longer since it's been reported to Dell.

Just an FYI, the Dell Notebook System Software, v.3.1.1a, A14 I just downloaded and installed on my Precision M60 did not fix the sync issues with my Tungsten T3. I'm still plugging it in the USB port on the side of my laptop when it's in dock to sync it.

It may fix other USB issues, but not with the T3 as far as I can tell.

The A14 system software also did not fix the USB Dymo 310 printing problem.

not sure if you all are aware, but there is a workaround...you can run the USB ports as 1.1 instead of 2.0. I called Dell on this for my D/dock and that is what we did and it resolved the problem. I can sync up my IPAQ now with no problems. The only issue is when it notebook goes to sleep, it does not reconnect with the ipaq when it wakes up. However my usb mouse does just fine after the notebook wakes up.

if you look at other forum posts, you will find more information about this workaround.

Yes, I think we're all aware of the workaround or at least I am, but if you've got other equipment you'd like to run like external hard drives, sound cards, etc... USB 1.1 is really slow. I paid for a laptop and dock with USB 2.0 and it should work without the 'work around.'

I am certainly not advocating that the workaround solves the problem...for the price we all paid for our hardware, we should have USB 2.0...but it will help him get his PDA docked...its better than not being able to dock.
