Dell computers come with a ONE year warranty, parts and labor when you buy it. Unless you request an extended warranty, one year is all you get. Not knowing how you ordered your system and when you ordered it I would like to know? Is this a recent purchase?
Dell can not refund warranty unless customer care give gave you an exception. I bought an 1 year premium extended warranty for the problems I'm with my Dell XPS 8700 and customer care told me that as a compensation for all the problems I'm having they gave me a discount. So far the warranty is better than basic. I advise any that wants to buy a Dell computer or even extending their warranty purchase the premium support.
Premium Support adds coverage to software. It doesn't give you any better onsite tech support, that remains the same. It you have an extended warranty you have the same coverage on your hardware as those that choose to get Premium Support.
