You have 2 choices. Remove the video card or remove the video cable from the machine and plug into the video card in the slots.
if you remove the BLUE VGA cable and only use the WHITE DVI cable you cannot connect the monitor to the wrong port. Neither the computer nor the monitor is designed to have BOTH VGA and DVI attached to the monitor so if you used ALL of the cables this is your issue.
Thanks so much for your fabulous picture post, SpeedStep! Very, very helpful. The problem is, I do not have color-coded cords. I followed the quick setup diagrams that were provided with the computer/monitor. It has been YEARS since I've had to connect all of these kind of cords up (a long time laptop only user). I have the mind DP to DP cord and then the other one just looks like a USB connection. If I knew exactly the name/type of cord I needed, I'd just get it at BestBuy. However, at this point, I"m ready to hand it all over to the Geeks and let them do it. Really....one would think that Dell would include the correct cords for what you buy.

Un Plug D-SUB VGA connector from the motherboard. If you do not have a VGA connection on an Add in Card then you must use an adapter.
