I have just purchased a E6530 and to wish to upgrade the display resolution to 1920 x 1080 from 1366 x 768. Can you provide some further details e.g. cable and display part numbers. I did follow the links to Parts People but that lead nowhere. I did further searches on their site and could only find details on upgrading a E6420.
Anything you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
If you just bought the system new, return it and order a new one with the equipment you want. Replacing the display panel will invalidate your warranty - which makes little sense on a brand-new system.
The unit I purchased is second hand and at a good price. It's a mid 2012 make so warranty is not an issue. As mentioned on this forum posted earlier, it can be done (change the display resolution to 1920 x 1080 from 1366 x 768). I just need to know the cable and screen part numbers and any other components needed. Also I'm not sure if I have GPU capable of driving the resolution I'm after. I've sent a query to Parts People and hopefully they can shed some light on my issue.
Hi. I have a Latitude E6530. Came with a 1366x768 screen. I bought the exact screen and cable recommended in this thread for it. Installed both (cable was hard to do) but now when I bring up the system at 1920x1080 I am getting a tinted screen that doesn't look right and icons and text are fuzzy. It seems that there are vertical lines across the screen very close together but they blur everything, as if I am getting only half of the vertical resolution I am supposed to. I would really like to get this working. Any advice?
Hi ebds, I was able to do exactly the same as you are trying to accomplish and had success. I was warned that my system may run a little too hot. It didn't. I'm assuming that your motherboard does not have discrete nVidia graphics and was working ok at 1366 x 768 (my E6530 at the time only had UMA Intel graphics).
In the BIOS settings ensure that Optimus is checked on. Also double check the video cable connections.
Another check you can perform is: Hold down Ctrl + D then press the laptop start button. The screen should cycle through different colours. If it does then there is a setting issue or perhaps a driver problem. If it doesn't then it's a cable connection or wrong cable issue.
The Parts People Cable I purchased: CYM5C - currently in stock. I purchased my screen elsewhere.
If you do get it going, DO NOT use and external monitor and the E6530 screen simultaneously as this will overheat your system.

Cable:

There are likely any of several LCDs you can use - they should have those as well.

Do you happen to know where I can see install instructions for this cable on a Latitude E6000 line? Thanks.

Only if you disable the internal screen - the Intel GPU can drive only two displays at a time.

Thanks for your help.
I made the upgrade and the LCD works fine at FHD 1920x1080. Should I be able to run the E6530 @ FHD and two external monitors connected at FHD also?

That's a co-processor - not a standalone video chip. The Intel GPU is the connection to the outside world.

I have an NVIDIA NVS 5200M GPU in the machine in question as well.

The cable for the system with a webcam is this one:

For the E6530, the screen is this one

If your system has Intel-only video (likely) trying to drive that high a resolution will be a major drag on performance.
