The system will run fine with a working 65W adapter.  If you can try the existing adapter on another Dell and it's not recognized there, either - the adapter is the problem.  Alternatively, try a new Dell adapter on this system - if that solves the problem, you're set.  If not, on this model, the DC jack is soldered to the mainboard - you'll need to replace the mainboard to solve the problem.

Is the AC adapter correctly recognized (F2 at powerup to check)?  If it shows "unknown", the system will not run at full power.

Thanks for your reply. I just checked and it says "AC Adapter = Unknown device installed". How come? It has been replaced once but it's an original AC adapter from Dell. I see now that it's only 65W. Shouldn't it be 90W? I got this from the Dell support when the first one broke (still had warranty back then).

So this means either the AC Adapter or my mainboard is broken. Not worth fixing. Thanks for the help!
