I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check for issue resolution.
Switch off the computer.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
Remove the battery from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Then connect back all the peripherals and check if you are able to switch ON the system.
Also, If two memory modules are installed, remove the modules, then reinstall one module and restart the computer and perform the operating reinstallation steps.
Before you go tearing your laptop apart ... make sure you have good media. Test the DVD on another system to make sure the media is good, and try another CD/DVD on this system to make sure the optical drive is good.
Thanks for your reply. I tried both and still It's the same thing. It's getting switched ON but not taking any boot media.
Just out of curiosity, i wanted to know that what happens when one presses power button for 15 seconds when the device is disconnected to all the power sources?
Do I need to format Hard disk, or need to create a recovery section in it so that temporary files for OS installation can be copied to it?
The DVD and the USB drive works on other Dell PCs. Assuming that DVD reader might not be working fine, then at least USB drive should have got it booted up.
Also using a HDD reader, I tried to add boot record to the internal Hard Drive, that also did not help. :(
