Dell was never going to write Windows Vista/7/8 etc. inf drivers for a 10 year old monitor. It should function at its 1600x1200 resolution using the default operating system PNP inf.
I have a rebuilt - no name Tower now, and am (probably) going to buy a used Dell 2001PF monitor wiht a serial number ending in L ( to make sure I know what the panel is).
I think it should just plug and play...
If I buy the monitor, I'll repost here to let people know I did not have to download drivers.

I would not pay more than $50. If the seller is wanting more, find a newer model to put that money towards.
