I have the answer. I encountered this problem today. Found out that you need to go to "device manager" and go down to the "Sensor" and disable and re-enable both of them.
Then it should work. A simple disable and enable will do the trick. Hope this helps you as it helped me.
Hi Rithvik, Dell are sending an engineer out on Tuesday to replace what I think it's an accelerometer chip on the motherboard. But very strange that this is happening to you too! Sick of issues with this laptop... :(
I have this laptop and my screen has only auto-rotated during a very brief period when I fiddled with disabling and reenabling the accelerameter and sensor.
Is this thing SUPPOSED to auto-rotate?
Mine didn't do it right out of the box and I haven't had a screen replaced.
i swapped my 500 GB hybrid drive for a 240 GB SSD and when i re-installed the drivers it wouldn't auto rotate so i re-installed the firmware off the dell site and that fixed it for me even when the device manager said i had all the drivers installed. Hope that fixes it for you guys
Unfortunately, I am unable to update the Sensor Hub Firmware because when I try to install it I get an error that I need to Install the .NET 4.5.516541 Framework, and I've already got a newer version of the .Net Framework installed v4.5.51650, and I don't know which Windows kb to uninstall to go back to the older .NET Framework. Any ideas?
Hello guys. I'm also facing this issue. BUT I have found a temporary solution for this. Whenever you want to fold your laptop so you can use it as a tablet you can press "Ctrl+Alt+Arrows" For example, if you want to fold your screen backwards, you need to press "Ctrl+Alt+down" if you want to switch it to be side ways put "Ctrl+Alt+Left or right" this before you fold it because if you fold, the keys get disabled until you unfolded. I tried to explain as best as I can, I hope this helps you! Have a great day!
I had the same problem with my new, out of the box, 2 on1. I fixed it by swiping up to the right corner then pressing the screen icon, and tried to make it brighter. I noticed a little screen with a red LME through it. I un marked it and it rotates
Setting up a new Inspiron 7000 and had the same problem with auto-rotate not working. The "Rotation Lock" button was grayed out and did not respond. After some digging around in settings and trying different things to no avail I found this easy fix. Start Control Panel-- Appearance and Personalization--Display--Change Display Settings--put a check mark in the box next to "Allow the Screen to Auto Rotate"....

This was the only solution that has worked. Thank you!
Just a small hint is you swipe right side of the screen. Then press the setitngs wheel. Then you get the screen icon.

Under the notifications box in the right hand corner there will a rotation lock button and all you need to do is unlock it.
