Forget the initial freezes if ur system is working ok now.....

Btw what exactly were ur issues before uefi upgrade? U ran the uefi upgrade from within windows ?

U mean the dell uefi file available in their drivers section under bios catagory ?

Im pretty fortuanite that my machine dosent freeze up but get really bad cpu spikes where everything slows down for a split secod. Have tried new hdd. New ram. Nothings fixed that issue. Also notice the machine runs a lot faster on a cold boot than it does on a hot reboot. Under a minute to load on cold and nearly 2 mins on hot.

The 5400Rpm hdd dosent help the fact. Nor does the pissy i7

If i put a ssd in the bottleneck will be the *** cpu speeds.

The reps have dissapeared from here so it seems.

Prob wating for our watrentys to run out so they dont have to deal with us

Sone of the posters here have had issues for months with no offer of a proper fix or recall of this product.

It took somewhere between 15-20 minutes to freeze up.

hi

if you are mostly running your 3543 on battery with intel speed step turned on , you will get the cpu spikes and hickups , on AC power this should not happen , also check if your HDD needs defragmentation .....

you mean it is still freezing ? even after uefi update?

which windows are u using?  i would suggest you use windows 7 or windows 10  and install it from scratch , don't upgrade .

have you tried the latest UEFi from dell the A06 ?

I would suggest you to flash your uefi with a generic firmware ....

"Uefi with legacy oprom "   the a04 firmware version...

Yep. Im not a basic pc user.

Defrag with derfaggler program every week.

All software. Firmware up to date.

Hdd is not full. Its partitioned so C drive ha 140 outta 200 gigs gig spare most times.

Never runs on battery. Batterys never in unless i update bios.  Its never left the under my desk. Unless its ffor cleaning. Or when i did the hdd and ram swap.

The pc is used as my tv as well.

All the pictures are doubled through hdmi to my lg tv

I have disabled speedstep. No change. Enabled speedstep again

Also dual boot linux mint and the lag happens on mint too

So its not just a software issue. Its def the pc

Any other ideas

I have noticed after running wireless tests that running my mouse over we Bluetooth causes it to timeout in the wireless connection.  See if you have Bluetooth devices and if it's causing disruptions

Thanks. But for some messed up reason my bluetooth have never worked on this machine.

So ive never bothered with bluetooth since day 2 of having the pc when i knew it wasent working.

Wirelwss. Or the wifi worked perfectly up until a week ago. Now its not showing or working at all

YEs all updated drivers. Even uninstalled the adaptor. Rebooted and reinstalled software to no avail.

The issues were peesent on windows 7 and 8 and 8.1. Windows 10

And linux mint. So its defenatly the machine itself and not the software or operating system thats causing the lagging and cpu spikes. Oh and the 10 and 6 frames per second respectivally on each video card. INTEL and nvidia cards.

I have done everything possable.

Now i think ots time for dell to come to the table and fix up our issues or do a recall on this machine

I got my laptop Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series ,just 6months. Same issue

After the boot up(it take 5-8 mins) just in 10 min my system freezes and nothing can be done.

I have to for reboot...and the same issue continues

Sometime it goes into sleep mode and I need to force shutdown to get it up

I call the customer service and they are bunch for kindergarteners.

All they do is run hardware diagnostics and say its fine, next option they give can we reset (factory default)

They don't even think about the user data...*** a amateurs

They connected me to advance tech support,he say I don't have the software contract for them to fix it (even thou iam under warrenty)

Not sure what to do.This laptop is sure a recall

I have followed the F12 set up and do not see the option to disable Speedstep either.

Another site suggested boosting minimum processor state to 100%.

http://superuser.com/questions/725755/how-to-turn-off-speedstep-in-windows-7

It has helped somewhat but would still like to disable Speedstep. Is there another way to access?

Local IT shop said it could be delayed sectors in HDD. Diagnostics don't flag delayed sectors only bad sectors.

Want me to swap to a SSD - great solution on a 3 month old machine!

I spoke too soon.

Found it and disabled.

Seems to help.

Still slower than 2005 Studios that I have upgraded to Win 10

Odd

dell knows these lappys are chronically bad and choose to  ignore it

when was the last time we saw a dell rep in this thread?

are we just flogging a dead horse dell?

ignore us and the issue will go away..

i highly doubt it

lets all get a petition started to get a r.e.c.a.l.l on these machines an get something done about all theses issues..

i wonder if there is any other forum out there on this website about any other type of dell pcs  that have this many issues?

doubt it

who knows how to get a partition started?

Hi,

I have purchased new lappie and now i am facing an issue while starting my laptop.

It gets stuck when i click the start button. then i have to long press the button and start it again, after which it starts properly.

Please provide a solution for solving this issue so that it won't create more problems in future
