The U2415 is 5 months old. Not sure how long you have had it from Amazon.
* Turn the computer and U2415 off * Disconnect all cables from the U2415 including the power cable * Press and hold in the monitor power button for 30 seconds to reset the monitor * For testing, do not connect the monitor USB upstream cable to the computer. Setup like this = Computer GTX 750 HDMI out --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> U2415 HDMI (MHL) 1 in * Reconnect the U2415 power cable to the U2415 * Turn the U2415 on, then the computer * Open the U2415 OSD (On Screen Display), Input Source. Choose HDMI (MHL) 1 * Exit the OSD * If still no go, test the U2415 HDMI 2 port changing the Input Source to it
I have battled with this issue for some years. The suggestion to disconnect the USB upstream cable(s) is a good one. When I disconnected the USB cables things settled down. It was a clue not a solution. I added a third screen, all using DP, and connected all USB hubs and things got really bad resulting in coil whine and BSOD if I added any extra USB items. It was the power supply. I upgraded to 750W from 500W and now have all three USB hubs and all other USB ports in use without any problems. My graphics card is an NVS510 which does not have a separate power supply and this probably compounded the problem.
I am by no means a computer anything. I am having the same issue with the monitor going black. When reading your steps I get to the 3rd step and I am a bit confused.
If you disconnect the power cable in step 2 how does pressing the on/off switch for 30 seconds work in step 3 with no power?
I am experiencing a similar issue. I bought the monitor in Feb 2016 from Amazon. I bought a second monitor on November 2016 and do not see the same issue occurring, it works as expected. The issue with the Feb. 2016 monitor occurs after it goes into safe mode, it either stays in safe mode or blinks between safe mode and active. Any other possible solutions for this problem? The steps above did not resolve the matter.

Because there is still a remaining charge in the internal components. Doing the 30 second thing clears it.
