What specifically do you mean by Cable Adapter? Are you referring to an adapter that will allow connection without removing the drive from the modular bay?
No, not a big job. That is what I do now. however, if you like to transfer on a regular basis, it causes added stress to the modular bay and hard drive connections, which I was trying to avoid.

No. You will need either a cable adapter or a 2.5" drive enclosure.

Cables that connect to a 2.5" hard drive on one end and a regular IDE connection
on the other or adapts the 2.5" drive connectors to regular IDE.
