The U2515H HDMI is capable of 2560x1440. You have to create a "custom" resolution in the video card display settings. I do not have those AMD Ati instructions and do not recommend doing it since it involves registry edits.
A simple video card HDMI to DP cable will not work. Those are designed to do the opposite. "Video card DP to Monitor HDMI"
There are active converters for video card HDMI to monitor DP but they do not do 2560 resolution.
My suggestion is to get a different video card that has both DP and mDP out ports.
Check your local computer store for any PCIe x16 video card that has either two DP or two mDP. Like this one which has two mDP. Click the Specifications tab.

Thank you for the reply, i found the specification of my video card.
http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/5000/5850
It says that Dual DVI can give up to 2560x1600 resolution, could i use dual DVI to DP/mDP cable to make this work as a cheaper option?
Getting another video card just to make this work seems costly...

No. A video card DVI port cannot up convert to a monitor DP/mDP via a straight cable.
