You have a Mobile Pentium 4, not a P-4M, there is a differance.  The -M is no longer made and the MP4 what is in these notebooks.

Wonder why the guy above got 7700 w/ a fx5200... I thought that the ati m9000's were faster??

I find it a little hard to believe your getting 7700 on your fx5200; as the highest i can find in your cpu range on madonion is 7500.

I am still getting scores of around 3000,

I got it up to 3025 after closing everything,

any ideas? what can cause this slowdown?

how did you get the nvidia 56.72 driver to install?

I downloaded it from www.nvidia.com and installed it, but the computer reverted back to the dell drivers (45.86), because the drivers from nvidia.com do not have the GeFORCE Go5200 listed, and dont have the appropriate inf file in the installation.

 

3dmark 2001 on the default settings (free version). 3.06 non-ht, 1gb ram, fx5200 64mb. The video card is where the difference is... I have mine sitting at 235core/501ram (instead of Dell's 192core/392ram). Once I get some better cooling I am hoping for 275/550. I have had it running 270/540 with the keyboard off and a fan blowing down on the card.. I am going to try the 8500's video card mod (swapping out the thermal pad for a copper plate and arctic 5 and ram sinks on the ram. Call me crazy but I have had great results in my games of choice so far. (Flight sim 2004, medal of honor, call of duty). Benchmarks only tell part of the story- how the thing works in the game is the big deciding point.

I am using nvidia 56.82 and modded .inf (laptopvideo2go), settings of 235/501, and used rivatuner to get sideband addressing enabled (tried doing it through the driver and ICQerror, works now though). I can try and save the page to show you guys if you dont believe me.

just got 7941- .inf 22.23, driver 60.72, 236/504, sideband enabled. I saved it for those who do not believe me.. I suggest you try it yourself first.

but my video card is not even running close to normal right now!

Like I said, I'm getting scores (3DMark2001 SE) of 3000, and the performance during a game like Battlefield is Horrible, totally unplayable even at the lowest settings,

Higney overclocking his memory to 500 is ridiculous.  I don't believe he's o/c it that high; and if he is then his vid card won't be working for long.

 

Even with his vid card o/c that high... go to madonion.com, enter 3056 as the cpu speed, and fx5200 as the vid card.  Look at the HIGHEST scores. (these are coming from crazy overclocked desktop cards) are 8500ish.

Go back to mommy, and have fun when your o/c'ed video card fails.  The reason it's underclocked is to create less heat.  You think dell/compal thought to themselves; "let's make these cards slower.. for no reason"?
