Just got 3065 in PCmark 2004.      This on a p4 2.66.     See whatcha get.   We can compare the breakdown of each test if your score is much worse than mine.

Fluke, thanks for posting again.  I looked through everything and the only difference I found was the IRQ of the video card, yours is 20, mine is 11.  However, I doubt that this is the issue.  Other than that, everything is identical.

My scores have always been around 3000, sometimes 3025, sometimes 2970, once 3069, but still, all extremely poor.  I've tried it with different video drivers, settings, and everything.

Steve, my PCMark 2004 score was 966! EXTREMELY LOW! Will post details shortly.

ran the test again and got a score of 933

little frustrated right now... what on earth is the problem with this thing?

Wait a minute!

I read about a problem on this forum where IRQ 11 was being shared by too many devices (PC Card and USB ports)

Check in your device manager to see what other hardware is sharing it.  See if IRQ 20 is even being used.  Maybe you can change the settings.

Let's search and try and find out more info.

ipune, the PC Mark tests compared to my 5150 are at http://www.coop-ed.org/ipune.gif .  At this stage, call Dell and raise h_ll.  It cannot be denied that there is a problem, especially if you look at the results...Good luck!

(my results are light grey, yours are dark grey)

Just ran my PCMark program (even bought the darn thing!)  - got a score of 4038 on it.   Two other things I remembered:  one is that I installed the updated CPU driver from  the Dell download section, and I'm running XP Pro.   Good luck with the problem solving, ipune

Thanks Fluke,

but what the eff?! my scores are terrible, what on earth is the problem?

I've been raising heck with dell for weeks, calling them every other day, but they cant figure it out

and they dont want to replace the video card --- which at this point is the only thing I can narrow it down to

i'll call em again tonight,

Thanks a lot though

The odd thing is that the video card seems to be the best performer out of the lot.   Makes me wonder if there is a problem with the mainboard.  I know it was replaced, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it was done right.  Basic troubleshooting:  recheck the processor to make sure that it is seated properly, and that the heat sink is properly installed.  i8kfangui can tell you the temperature of the processor:  is it running hot?   Is hyperthreading activated?  (have to check in BIOS for that).  You've tried the drivers for the graphics card, so have you tried the chipset drivers?   When the machine came back, did you do a reinstall of Windows, starting with the chipset, then working your way out from there?   I know, lots of questions and the service reps should be guiding you through this - you may have to start going up the food chain in Dell to get the support needed...

NOTE:  I had another look at the PC Mark results.  You have deactivated your hyperthreading!   Reactivate it in BIOS (to get to the different pages, use the "ALT" and "p" key at the same time) and run the benchmark again...  Here's the URL I found this info out in:  http://service.futuremark.com/servlet/Index?pageid=/orb/multicompare_view&p0=2320438&n0=Project+01&p1=2320246&n1=Project+02&t=Search+Results&k=11&s=-1&l=1&c=-1221341171

Well, I don't  even have HT on my 2.66, and my pcmark scores kill his, so that's not the problem.

And, since pcmark isn't a vid card test, you now know that the problem IS NOT limited to your video card.    I guess if you want to break down your individual pcmark scores we can compare them individually to try to get some idea what's going on.

evilsteve - yup, you probably are right and that the hyperthreading may not make much of a difference, but when it comes to comparing the tests, apples have to be compared to apples, so if his test was done without the hyperthreading, and mine was done with it, then that difference should be eliminated.   It would be interesting to see what changes will occur when the hyperthreading is activated ...

Odd - the PC Mark says that it's available, just not activated.  I wonder what would happen if you went into your BIOS setup and changed the Hyperthreading option to "enabled" (page 5/6 in the BIOS setup)...
