Appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the problem.
I have few questions which would help us narrow down the issue to the faulty component.
When you press the power button, Do you get the Dell logo or nothing at all?
You may try entering the diagnostics mode to check if it lets us run the hardware diagnostics at least.
Remove the battery and charger. Hold down the power button, While you're holding the power button, Plug in the charger and let the button go. The battery is still out.
That should take you to the diagnostics screen. Let us know if you're able to get there.
Should the diagnostics fail, Please reply with the Error message and validation code, we shall take it further.

Thank you very much for your reply.
No, I do not see the Dell logo. The screen remains black (not even backlit).
I tried plugging in the charger while holding down the power button, and I get the same symptoms (no response, black screen).
What else can you suggest?
Thanks!

Hi,
Thank you for the swift response.
One last step you may try is to try running the LCD Built In Self Test.
Hold down the D key when the machine is OFF, then press the Power button once. Continue holding the D key.
Check if you get any solid colors.
Else, Please send a private message with the computer's service tag.

No, unfortunately I still get no response (screen is still black).
I'm assuming the motherboard is broken. This seems to happen a lot with this model -- there are lots advertised on eBay as "won't power up".

Hi,
Thank you for the update.
Yes it looks like the motherboard is the point of failure.
If you could send us the laptop's service tag through private message, we shall see how to get this resolved asap.
Thank you
