My new Dell XPS 13 has the same problem with the touchpad. I will contact the Dell support to see if they can fix it.

Any updates on this?  I just received my dell xps 13 today - amazing machine but I immediately noticed the loose touchpad.  It's very frustrating on an otherwise perfect machine and makes it feel cheap.  Basically, it's annoying.  After doing some googling it seems like it's very common.  So, what I'm trying to figure out is, is it worth trying to get dell to fix it / get a replacement, OR is every single touchpad this way and some people complain and some people don't?  Any feedback would be appreciated.

1. I noticed that the "loose and rattle" problem gets better when the system gets heated up (after using it for a few hours) every time. Now after weeks of using my dell xps 13 non-touch laptop, the loose touchpad seems to go away and stopped making noise.

2. I also contacted the Dell Support and they sent me a similar system with a touch screen. This one does not have a loose touchpad. I did not accept it because I wanted a matte screen over a glossy one, but they said that is the only available system they had for exchange at that time. My guess is that maybe every non-touch screen xps 13 has a loose touchpad, but not for the ones with touch screens.

Hmmm,

I called dell support today and they just offered the standard warranty service of mailing in the laptop for repair.  I read somewhere else they replaced a touch pad and it still had the same issue, I may just keep it.  A little disappointing for such an expensive laptop, but it's an otherwise perfect laptop for my needs.
